About Shepherdsville, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
A home rule-class city situated on the Salt River in Bullitt County, Kentucky, Shepherdsville has an estimated population of more than 11,300 residents. The county seat of Bullitt County, Shepherdsville is known for its low cost of living, abundance of local amenities, safe neighborhoods as well as plenty of sunny weather.
The area now known as Shepherdsville was home to the first commercial salt works in the State of Kentucky. Hence, it was originally called ‘Bullitt’s Lick’ back in the day. However, these salt works were closed due to competition from Virginian works in the 1830s. The settlement grew up around the store and mill erected by Adam Shepherd along the Salt River, who had acquired 900-acres of land in the area.
Shepherdsville was named in his honor when it received its charter in 1793. The first post office was established in 1806, and a mineral water spa was opened by 1836. During the mid- 1850s, the mainline for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad was completed nearby. The city was primarily an agricultural area throughout most of the 20th century, though Shepherdsville experience rapid growth after the construction of the Kentucky Turnpike and Interstate 65 between 1950 and 1980.
As of today, the city of Shepherdsville is great place to call home. It’s quiet, friendly and has a lot of history. Several interesting events are held throughout the year and there is a wide variety of eateries to satisfy your taste buds.
